Horseback riding lessons this afternoon for my 5 year-old son.View post...
I have never really felt like a failure until the other day when I overheard my son telling one of his friends that he was excited because, “my dad finally has a job.”
I am only helping out the school by volunteering my time… It is not a paid job. I am not really into stereotypes but I have to admit the comment he made got to me. I already have this argument with other dads because I am the stay-at-home parent and not working.
I know my son, Xander, didn’t mean anything by the comment but as a man, father and parent I truly feel like a failure today. We can truly be our own worst enemy…. SighView post...
I was waking my 5 year-old son up this morning and he wasn’t wanting to get up.
I have discovered the best way to wake-up my son is by making him laugh. I began tickling him and he started a deep belly laugh.
The laughing continued for a few minutes until it was interrupted by a long and loud noise from his gurgling stomach.
Xander raised up out of bed and said, “It’s okay dad. My tummy is just full of farts!”
Having a child is never boring.View post...
I was at my son’s school helping out in P.E. class when one of the other students from my son’s class stopped me.
The little boy was excited because it was grandparent’s day at my sons school. He asked me, “Are you here for Xander today because it’s grandparent’s day?”
I made a great fake smile and answered, “No, Xander is my son. I am not his grandfather.”
The little boy looked disappointed and said, “Oh!!! I thought you were old enough to be his grandpa.”
I continued to make a fake smile, “No, it will be a long time before I’m old enough to be a grandpa.”
The little boy smiled a little, “Well that’s good! You will be old enough to be at grandparent’s day next year then!!!!!”
I just can’t seem to win when talking to five year-old’s……sighView post...
My 5 year-old son, Xander is watching the Disney movie Bears. The mommy bear is feeding the baby bears milk (just like human mothers).
Xander is very interested in the way the baby bears eat and tells his momma, “I want to do that!”
My wife tells him, “You’ve already done that, and can only do that when you’re a baby.”
Xander looks at her and says, “But I want to do that again!!!!”
My wife is now speechless……View post...
My five year-old son was laying on the couch playing a game when he asked me, “Dad, when are you and mom going to have another baby?”
I didn’t hesitate and answered him, “We’re not having another baby.”
Xander continued playing his game and said, “Why dad? I can’t be a brother without a baby.”
I laughed and replied, “I’ll tell you why. You are enough for me and your mom.”
Xander looked up from his game and smiled, “No dad….I am more than enough for you!”
With the way Xander emphasized the word “more" all I could say was, "A very validate point son….you are more than enough!!”
The humor of a five year-old never ceases to amaze me.View post...
I am currently working on basic spelling words with my 5 year-old son. One of the words I have given him to spell is “BOY”.
I am getting him to write the word 5 times and say it aloud as he is writing it.
Xander looked at me with a devilish grin as he was writing the word BOY and said, “B * O * Y or kid”
I knew he was being cute and said, “Don’t you mean boy?”
“No dad! You should know a boy is a kid!”
I smiled at him and said, “Fine then use BOY in a sentence for me.”
Xander’s grin got bigger and he said, “Boy, it’s hot outside!”
I have a feeling the coming school year is going to be an adventure for me.View post...
My 5 year-old son was laying on the couch and asked me, “Dad, don’t you need to shave your head again?”
He knows I have been shaving my head to keep cooler during the summer so I smiled at him and said, “I will later. I try to do it every other day.”
Xander looked at me with a quizzing grin, “Why are you waiting? I can see some hair, and your hair is gray you know?”
My 5 year-old son might be sick ,but that doesn’t mean he’s lost his sense of humor!!View post...
