All of us have made some real blunders in life….it's what we do with them that counts!

I like to think of myself as a quintessential, modern type of guy.  I can say I cook, do laundry and change diapers (even hazmat ready ones).  Versatility is one of my strong points.  I adapt to the situation around me and have learned, sometimes, it really is all about me (not often but occasionally).

When I am feeling things are all about me I tend to be the type guy that doesn’t mind using a little eye cream, checking to see how much gray hair I am showing and getting out the hair styling products.  We all have our little idiosyncrasies and I am no different, hair products is one of mine.

My wife would tell you I like my hair products. I love to look in different stores at the new styling aids.  Hair gel and myself have had a life, long relationship.  Sometimes I hate them, sometimes I love them. Given the choice of being a gray-haired man or having no hair, I will pick the distinguished look every time.  Honestly, I know, I can pick up a bottle of hair dye and take care of that issue easily.  I wouldn’t have the luxury of a simple remedy if I had no hair.

TOP 5 USES OF HAIR GEL

  1. Hair gel is used to tame the most wild hair, especially after a night you honestly don’t remember.
  2. If you get too much on just slick it back and tell yourself, “I look good.”
  3. You can make the most awesome devil horns out of your hair!
  4. If used in the right amount your hair won’t move in 75 MPH winds  (The only other product I have ever known to this is Aquanet hairspray from the 80′s. WARNING: Too much Aquanet and your hair will stick to the roof of a car!)
  5. You can mold hair gel into the coolest little glue balls if your bored! (Great for throwing at your friends!)

I occasionally like to get the old hair gel out and just have fun with my hair (did I mention this is an idiosyncrasy of mine?)  Yesterday, I broke out the hair gel and thought I would get creative.  I had wanted to try to recreate the ducktail hairstyle.  I personally think it’s a rather extraordinary hair style.  It originated in the 1940′s but didn’t become popular until the 1950′s. A ducktail hairstyle is where the hair is swept back at the sides to meet in an upturned point in back.

I had worn my ducktail all day and had been the brunt of several jokes.  I told everyone that teased me “I look good!”  I actually had developed a major headache by the end of the evening and was speaking to Melissa who also had been teasing me.

Me: I have the worst headache and I don’t know why? (have a grimace on my face)

Melissa: I do!  It’s the hair! (said laughingly)

Me: (dumb look on face….I had nothing to say since my hair wasn’t moving)

I am glad I have a good sense of humor.  After all I know I look good!  I wonder if I should write about my vanity next?

One point Melissa for being very quick to point out my hair doesn’t move, 0 points dada for actually wondering if I had a headache because my hair didn’t move!
